About The David and Sheila Brown Memorial DACA Fund at DCP

Since 2017, we have been able to financially support students, alumni and staff to submit DACA applications and renewals. This has been possible thanks to the generosity of The David and Sheila Brown Memorial DACA Fund at DCP. What is DACA?

On June 15, 2012, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that it would not deport certain undocumented youth who came to the United States as children. Under a directive from the DHS secretary, these youth may be granted a type of temporary permission to stay in the U.S. called “deferred action.” The Obama administration called this program Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA.

What is the current status of DACA?

As a result of an order by a U.S. district court in the Eastern District of New York, on December 7, 2020, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) began accepting initial DACA applications, DACA renewal requests, and applications for advance parole from DACA recipients.
